Dr. Kyle Maynard – Naturopathic Doctor

Kyle The Naturopathic Doctor

Hello! I am Dr. Kyle Maynard BSc, MSc, ND I am one of the owners of Horizons Holistic Health Clinic, I’ve been working along side Dr. Michelle Decker, ND since we opened in October 2016.

If you ask any of my patients, they will probably tell you that I am curious and investigative. They would say I’m conservative with supplements and testing and use them when we must. I love to tell stories to educate and inspire. I consider the whole body when focusing on any particular area and I work with you to find the cause of your concern.

As a naturopathic doctor I am well versed in managing and treating various medical concerns regarding digestion, heart, lungs, hormones, diabetes, allergies and sensitivities. However, I have two growing areas of focus:

1. Brain and Mood health – anxiety, depression, bipolar, adult ADHD

2. Physical conditions – arthritis, radiculopathy, sprains/strains, low back pain, tendinopathy, tendonitis, neuropathy, bursitis, fasciitis, osteopenia/ osteoporosis, fractures, and pre and post surgical healing. I often use a range of modalities for this including low level laser therapy.

I am an instructor at Vancouver Island branch of the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition where I teach Biochemistry, Brain Nutrition, and Research in Nutrition. I have done several local talks in the Victoria area regarding health and nutrition. I am constantly taking courses and getting extra certifications.

EDUCATION:

1. Bachelor of Science in Chemical Biology at Thompson Rivers University

2. Master of Science In Neuroscience from University of British Columbia. My main area of study was psychoneuroendocrinology – How hormones in the brain affect behavior. More specifically I looked at how testosterone and vasopressin in the amygdala and hypothalamus affected proactive coping behavior in rats.

3. Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine from Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine (Registrant in Good standing with the CNPBC and a member of the BCNA and CAND)

About me

I was born and raised in Kamloops. I am a father of two amazing children, my son Brody and my daughter Kira (5 and 2). When I am not at work, I am with my kids. We love to hike Mt. Tolmie, visit parks and participate in local community events. In the evenings, I am usually experimenting with different foods and cooking techniques. I am improving ways on incorporating more colours, working with non-gluten flours, learning which dairy-free cheeses are the best, and cooking with less meat.
